An 856-seat state-of-the-art proscenium performance space, the Albert Ivar Goodman Theatre is home to large scale musicals (The Jungle Book, War Paint, Brigadoon) as well as intimate productions (Gloria, We’re Only Alive for A Short Amount of Time) and classic dramas (The Iceman Cometh, Two Trains Running). Comparable in scale to many Broadway houses, “the Albert” features main floor, balcony and box seating, and offers excellent vantage points of the stage from anywhere in the house.
The theater is named in honor of trustee Albert Goodman, who, along with his mother, Edith-Marie Appleton, made it possible to build the new Goodman Theatre.
